2 Chainz Names NBA Stars Who Rap, Argues Rappers Can't Make the League

The rapper gave a shout out to Shaq, Kevin Durant, and Damian Lillard in a new interview.

Even though 2 Chainz thinks the NBA has some talented rappers, he doesn’t think that there’s any rappers who can make the league.

The topic came up in conversation on a recent episode of the Big Podcast with Shaq and co-host Adam Lefkoe. At around the 38:24 mark in the video linked above, Lefkoe referred to a list of the “tallest rappers,” and noted that Shaq, who went platinum for his 1993 album Shaq Diesel, wasn’t included.

“Shaq can definitely rap,” said 2 Chainz. “It’s actually a lot of … hoopers that can rap. I think [Kevin Durant] hard too, K.D. can rap.”

“There's a few rappers that can hoop but I don't think they can make the NBA,” he added without mentioning any names.

The 47-year-old rapper then discussed how Durant, 36, had recorded a track with him and Lil Wayne for their Welcome 2 Collegrove collab album. However, the track was never officially released.

Further into the conversation, 2 Chainz discussed other NBA players with rap talent, including Stephen Jackson, Damian Lillard, and Jaylen Brown.

2 Chainz made an album dedicated to this idea called Rap or Go to the League, which Complex named as his best album. It was executive-produced by LeBron James.
