KILLY Drops New Track "PYRO": 'I’m Returning With a Vengeance'

The Toronto rapper returns with a music video for his first new music of 2021. He says he's preparing a new mixtape, due for release this spring.

A couple weeks back, Toronto rapper KILLY dropped an NFT that unlocked the title and cover art of his new track. Today, said track, “PYRO,” finally dropped.

The tune sees KILLY set fire to a pulsating, marauding beat by Montreal producer Freakey! “I done seen so many switch sides like a slideshow,” he spits in his uniquely lilting flow, holding the feet of his unreliable associates to the flames. The accompanying music video, directed by Toronto’s Gerard Joseph, sees him gunning a murdered-out sports car through the streets of Toronto in the nocturnal hours, interspered with clips of him performing the song surrounded by crew.

The rapper is preparing a new mixtape, set for release later this spring. “I’m returning with a vengeance,” he tells Complex Canada.

“KILLY and I are both Scarborough kids, so it was cool to link up to create what I envisioned as an ‘elevated’ Toronto hood video; something familiar that we all grew up with, just done a bit more tastefully, with a lot more chaos,” says Joseph about directing “PYRO.”

Last year, KILLY remained relatively low-key while still gifting us with a few top-shelf loosies, including “Sailor Moon,”“OH NO,” and “VVs,” his collab with the late Houdini.
