Drake made his affinity for Sidhu Moose Wala known when he wore a shirt paying homage to the late Brampton-based Punjabi rapper at his All Canadian North Stars show last month. Now, fans have good reason to believe that a musical collab between the two artists is on the way.
D-Teck, a veteran New York DJ and CEO of Wazzup Media Group, has been dropping not-so-subtle hints this week that Drizzy is cooking up a track featuring vocals by Wala, who was shot dead in India last May.
“Be Patient !” It’s coming,” the producer, who’s worked with Common Kings, Akon, and Choclair, tweeted on Tuesday, adding a tractor and owl emoji. “Stop asking me for details.”
Wala, the son of a farmer, was known to be fond of the HMT 5911 tractor model, referencing it in his songs—to the point that fans even began calling him “5911.” And Drake obviously has a thing for owls. So, naturally, fans began to speculate that a joint track between the two hip-hop artists is coming.
Just in case the hint went over your head, D-Teck later retweeted a fan-made collab by Drake and Wala (featuring Drizzy’s verses from “Chicago Freestyle”). Then, on Wednesday, D-Teck spelled it out even more clearly:
“Tupac and 50cent, Biggie and Bob Marley, French Montana and Chinx, Pop Smoke and 50cent and many others collaborated posthumously,” he tweeted. “What make y’all think a [tractor emoji] x [owl emoji] collab is impossible or far fetched when they were both was fans of each other and respected each other a lot ?”
He also retweeted a tweet from a fan who wrote: “It’s happening, Drake is listening to recorded vocals of sidhus. And based on those vocals song will come. People forget drake had a MJ feature on one of his albums a few years back.”
