Chance the Rapper spoke at Chicago's City Hall Tuesday to endorse Amara Enyia for mayor.
Chance the Rapper also announced he wasn't running for mayor, despite speculation.
"I purchased the Chicagoist actually not to run racist bitches outta business," he recently told Genius. "Really I brought it to provide more jobs for black and brown people in the city as writers at a high-profile publication."
On that same song, he took on the tenured Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who later announced he would not be seeking reelection. “And Rahm you done,” Chance raps on the track. “I’m expecting a resignation and open investigation on all these paid vacations for murderers.”
After Emanuel announced he would not seek re-election, Chance congratulated grassroots organizations, and reminded Chicago they need to pick a new person to lead their city who “cares about equity in regards to education, job development, and healthcare in one of the most segregated cities in the country.”
It looks like that person is Amara Enyia. "Narcissistically, if I back you, you have a chance," the rapper said during the press conference.
