PinkPantheress may be riding the thrill of her latest hit “Illegal,” but she’s not slowing down.

The British pop star (real name Victoria Walker) dropped her mixtape Fancy That in May—and now she’s already back in the studio.

On Monday, July 28, Walker shared a video to her personal TikTok page getting ready to record, only to have her studio session interrupted by Jack Harlow.

Evidently, the “First Class” hitmaker scheduled his session at the same time. The video, which is set to Walker’s “Illegal” reveals that both artists booked the studio for 7 p.m. As a result, they decided to make a contest out of the ordeal: “Whoever drops the best 16 [bar freestyle] gets to stay.”

For context, the “Illegal” challenge typically sees an unlikely pairing of friends finding common ground and shaking hands. One party is seen from the point of view of the other, and the POVs alternate over the first four lines of “Illegal.”

“My name is Pink and it’s really nice to meet you / You were recommended to me by some people / Ooh…is this is illegal? / Ooh…it feels illegal.”

According to the caption in Walker’s post, she was not the winner of this contest. But perhaps this wasn’t a loss—maybe this might signal a collaboration in the future.

As we know, Walker never stops working. Just a month after releasing Fancy That, she dropped her Danny L. Harle collaboration, “Starlight.” As for Harlow—who has also seen viral success on TikTok—his last single was his Doja Cat collaboration “Just Us,” which dropped this past March.
