Metro Boomin Reportedly Sells Part of His Catalog for Close to $70 Million

Metro Boomin has sold a portion of music catalog for nearly $70 million, 'Billboard' reports. The super producer dropped his second studio album in December.

Metro Boomin, born Leland Tyler Wayne, has sold a portion of music catalog to Shamrock Capital for nearly $70 million, Billboard reports.

The super producer previously dropped Heroes & Villains, his second studio album, back in early December. The album, which was narrated by actor Morgan Freeman, featured appearances from Future, Young Thug, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, 21 Savage, John Legend, Chris Brown, Young Nudy, The Weeknd, Mustafa, Gunna, and the late Migos rapper Takeoff. Heroes & Villains debuted at the No. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 by moving 185,000 album-equivalent units in its first week out.

A representative for Metro declined to comment on the reported Shamrock Capital deal.

The 29-year-old has numerous hits under his belt and has made it to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart 99 times as a producer, with two of those being No. 1s. Addionallty, he’s made it to the Hot 100 chart 46 times as an artist. Metro released his debut studio album, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, in 2018. 2017 saw the artist link with 21 Savage and Offset for Without Warning and with Big Sean for Double or Nothing in the same year. In 2020, Metro once again connected with 21 Savage for the collaborative album Savage Mode II.

In other music industry news, Dr. Dre was recently reported to have sold part of his music catalog to Shamrock Holdings and Universal Music Group in separate deals for around $200 million. The portion of Dre’s catalog that was sold reportedly earns around $10 million a year.
