The overall quality of a can of Pringles, regardless of one's flavor preference, is very much up for debate. However, what's not up for debate is that landing in jail after daring to pop open a can of autolyzed yeast extract whilst inside a store is preposterous.
Kathleen McDonagh, a 25-year-old Irish resident, has been sentenced to two months in prison for "damaging" a can of Pringles after opening them in the store before paying. That's the word from BBC News, who notes that the can-popping incident in question actually went down at a Tesco in the city of Cork way back in December 2016.
"It was not fit for resale with a loss of €1.50 [$1.71]...she had no permission to be in the store," a police officer told the court earlier this week. McDonagh had allegedly been banned from the store. Per reports, she also has prior convictions related to "theft or criminal damage." Her attorney had asked for leniency in the sentencing, citing the fact that she's presently pregnant.
