Woman Exposes Predatory Catcallers With Instagram Selfie Project

No one will ever go out with you if you yell sh*t at them on the street, dumbass.

Gross, boring, tactless, predatory, and inherently ugly straight men all over the world with presumably minuscule dicks have felt emboldened as hell since the election of Donald "Grab 'Em by the Pussy" Trump. A favorite pastime of the small-dicked, predatory straight male is to—for reasons not entirely clear—literally yell at women on the street with the hopes of, well, I'm not exactly sure?

Eindhoven, Netherlands-based design student Noa Jansma decided to document this troubling phenomenon on Instagram, sharing photos of catcallers in real time via the must-follow @dearcatcallers profile.

Jansma documented these incidents on the account, which currently boasts more than 90,000 followers, for a month straight. "[The men are] happy because they honestly think that they're complimenting me," she explained to BuzzFeed News Thursday. "They really didn't care about me. They never realized that I was unhappy." The Instagram project was inspired by an in-class discussion on harassment, an issue she felt the men in the discussion were still shocked to hear persisted in modern times. "Some of then even did not believe me," she said.

Jansma, who noted that the account has inspired some men to also start harassing her online, wrapped up the initial @dearcatcallers project earlier this month. "My month of posts has ended, but it doesn't mean that catcallers are in the past as well," she said. The account will now be turned over to "different girls around the world" so that they too can document harassment. "[This account] has made it clear that catcalling is still a common [occurrence] that many of us are dealing with," she said.
