Teen Job Applicant Reportedly Rejected With a Brutally Harsh Text

A steakhouse reportedly rejected a job applicant with a brutally harsh text.

Obviously, the rudest way to deliver some potentially not-good news is to slap a sarcastic emoji to the end of it. That's why this alleged tale of an 18-year-old job applicant from Leicester, England is so troubling. Mere minutes after interviewing for a waitress position at Miller & Carter house of steaks, Megan Dixon allegedly got quite the text message from assistant manager Shantel Wesson.

"It's a no x," the text read, Teen Voguereported Thursday. When Dixon asked for a little clarity, Shantel reportedly delivered this:

Damn. Dixon, according toMashable, tweeted a screenshot of the exchange before later setting her account to private. Speaking toTeen Vogue Thursday, Dixon said she was shocked by this turn of events. "Not something you expect from a 'premium' brand," she said. "I thought I would be receiving an email to inform me whether I had got the job or not."

Miller & Carter, in a statement to BBC News, apologized for what they say was a simple mistake. "We can't apologize enough to Megan," the statement said. "It was never our intention to be disrespectful or upset her in any way. The texts were sent in error and were intended for our manager, not the candidate." The restaurant "will be investigating" to make sure no more sarcastic emojis are attached to text messages sent to job applicants in the future.

Again according toMashable, this is reportedly Dixon's Instagram account:

At the time of publication, there was no mention of the text mishap on the 'gram. Dixon did not immediately respond to Complex's request for comment.
