Shanquella Robinson's Family Urges President Biden to Intervene in Death Case

The family of Shanquella Robinson continues to push for answers in the case surrounding the 2022 death, which took place while the 25-year-old was in Mexico.

Shanquella Robinson’s family is urging President Biden to step in as they continue to seek justice.

On Friday, members of Shanquella’s family—including her mother and sister—held a news conference in Washington, D.C. alongside attorneys Ben Crump and Sue-Ann Robinson. The family and legal team called for “high-level diplomatic intervention” in the case centered on the 25-year-old’s death in Mexico.

“It has been 126 days since she died,” Crump said on Friday, as seen in footage above from WUSA. “That’s 18 weeks. Video footage of her being beaten literally to death was released on November 16, 2022. 108 days ago, 15 weeks, and three days. And still, with all this visual evidence, nobody has been arrested.”

Speaking further about the footage, Crump described it as “just as bad or worse” than the footage at the center of the Tyre Nichols murder case.

Pressing questions have surrounded this case from the very beginning. In November, roughly one month after Robinson’s death while on vacation, it was reported that prosecutors in Mexico had filed charges against a then-unnamed woman in connection with the killing.

While those whom Shanquella Robinson was vacationing with at the time initially told the family that alcohol poisoning caused her death, her relatives were quick to question the veracity of this claim. Later, per a report from WSOC, a death certificate was revealed to list Robinson’s cause of death as a combination of spinal and neck injury.
