Four men have been charged in connection with last year's ultimately fatal "hate-gathering" in Charlottesville, Virginia.
CNN reported Wednesday that the men, all alleged to be members of the racist Rise Above Movement, were charged with inciting rioting and assaulting counterprotesters at the stupidly named Unite the Right rally. The men have been identified as Benjamin Drake Daley, Michael Paul Miselis, Thomas Walter Gillen, and Cole Evan White. They have been described by prosecutors as "serial rioters."
On Aug. 12, the gathering turned fatal when James Alex Fields Jr. plowed his car into the crowd. Counterprotester Heather Heyer was killed, ultimately resulting in hate crime and first-degree murder charges for Fields. The four men charged this week were not directly involved in Heyer's death.
The deadly weekend also gave Kanye West's dragon energy brother Donald Trump a chance to show that he gave even a single shit about humankind, a chance he promptly blew by tossing blame to both neo-Nazis and counterprotesters. By Trump's assessment, neo-Nazi groups are somehow capable of being comprised of "some very fine people."
During a press conference days after the violent weekend, the bloated dolt again refused to place the blame squarely on the shoulders of those responsible. "I think there's blame on both sides," he said. "You look at both sides, I think there's blame on both sides. I have no doubt about it."
Trump's handling of the rally was enough to inspire Heather Heyer's mother to outright refuse a meeting with the failed steak salesman. "I'm not talking to the president now," Susan Bro told Good Morning America at the time. "I'm sorry. After what he said about my child, and it's not that I saw somebody else's tweets about him. I saw an actual clip of him at a press conference equating the protesters, like Ms. Heyer, with the KKK and the white supremacists."
