No question about it, these are dark times in America.

This weekend, thousands of Americans are planning to gather to protest amid harrowing reports of the current administration and ICE’s overreach, with the significance of the date—June 14, to be exact—aptly underscoring the urgency of the moment.

What is No Kings?

No Kings, taking place all across the U.S. on June 14, is described by its organizers as “a nationwide day of defiance.” In short, gatherings all across the country are aiming to send that message that everyday Americans, regardless of political affiliation or creed, vehemently do not fuck with authoritarians or “kings.”

What is the significance of June 14?

June 14 is technically a holiday, Flag Day to be specific. Comically, arguably, June 14 is also Trump's birthday. The current POTUS will turn 79 on Saturday.

Where are protests being held?

Damn near everywhere. Seriously. If you peep the map provided by the nationwide protest's organizers, you'll no doubt find a location near where you reside. Those outside the States are also taking part in the Trump-rebuking festivities, as seen below.

There will be no No Kings protest in Washington, D.C. This is intentional, however, with organizers noting that eschewing this specific location is part of a larger strategy aimed at proving that D.C. is not “the center of gravity” for everyday Americans.
