Michelle Obama Reveals What She'll Miss Most About the White House on 'Ellen'

Michelle Obama tells Ellen DeGeneres what her family will miss the most about the White House.

Michelle Obama dropped in on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday to not only co-host the daytime festivities, but also to sit down for a chat about her family's post-White House vibes. Of course, no appearance on Ellen's show is complete without at least some dancing, so FLOTUS awesomely obliged:

"It's really the people," Obama told Ellen when asked what she'll miss the most when the fam leaves the White House. "The girls have grown up in the White House. The staff that's there, we see them every day. These are people who have helped us raise our kids. They've loved us. They've taken care of us. And the minute we leave, that's it. It's really the people we'll miss most."

But it's the younger members of the fam, Sasha and Malia, who might have the hardest time with the post-White House life. "They think they're ready, but when you've grown up in a place, I mean, imagine," Obama said. "They won't be able to knock on a door and say, 'Can I see my room?' You know, that's not gonna happen. So we're trying to have them step back and really appreciate the walk on the South Lawn, sitting on the Truman Balcony. I mean, we just want to keep creating some memories for them."

Looking ahead to the future of the nation, Obama is convinced that Americans will continue to surprise themselves as younger generations come into positions of power. "I have so much hope for this nation and I hope that everybody else does too," Obama said. "We have some great young people. We've got great communities. I wish everyone had the opportunity to travel the country like we have because you would feel good every day about where we live. This is the best country on earth."
