For many, Instagram’s latest feature, launching today (June 8), will stand as one of the platform’s most significant tweaks to date.

Gone are the days of one’s grid, aside from lone archived posts or an outright sweep-and-reset, being set in stone. Instead, users will now be able to rearrange their grids as they see fit, all without pinned posts getting lost in the shuffle.

Below, we take a closer look.

How to rearrange grid posts on Instagram

The new feature, dubbed Grid Reordering, doesn’t require a laborious process to achieve desired results. To reorder your grid, either to let your follows know that a new era is on the horizon or to simply shake things up to ward off the clutches of monotony, just long-press on any post. This will bring up a menu prompting you to arrange your posts however you want, in any order that speaks to you.

This means that, yes, IG lifers who’ve been around since the platform’s nascent days can now have a post from as far back as, say, 2010 living right next to one from 2026. Time is a flat circle, after all.

How does Instagram’s Grid Reordering feature affect pinned posts?

It doesn’t. Pinned posts and reels will retain their fixed positions at the top of one’s profile, regardless of how the rest of your grid is rearranged.

When does Instagram’s Grid Reordering feature launch?

Instagram’s latest feature, no doubt a long-awaited improvement to the overall user experience, launches globally on Monday (June 8).
