Insane Footage Shows Man Being Pulled Off Boat by Shark in Florida’s Everglades

If you don't want this to happen to you, don't put your hands in the water when boating in Florida.

Society has been gifted with another entry in the ongoing (and sure to never end) catalog of dicey Don’t Fuck With Sharks entries.

As seen in widely shared footage, a man in a boat was recently filmed being bitten by a shark at Everglades National Park in Florida after sticking his hands in the water. As seen in the brief clip, which WPLG and other outlets have noted was originally shared by Michael Russo, the bite was followed by the man in question immediately being pulled into the water.

Thankfully, the man ultimately returned to the boat, seemingly with his sunglasses still intact.

When reached for comment on Monday, the public affairs chief for Everglades and Dry Tortugas National Parks told Complex the incident at the center of the clip above took place on Friday morning. Per the rep’s statement to Complex, the man was “a visitor” to the park who was fishing in the area when he tried “washing his hands” in the Florida Bay water.

The man, who has not been publicly identified at the time of this writing, was treated at the Flamingo Marina for an injury officials say was “consistent with a shark bite.” The extent of that injury is unknown, although the man has been confirmed with Complex to have later been taken to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.

“While shark bites are extremely uncommon in Everglades National Park, we always recommend visitors take caution around park wildlife,” the park rep told Complex in an email on Monday.

In a separate statement to Complex on Monday, a rep with the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department confirmed that a man had been transported via Air Rescue South to a local hospital with what they described as “a possible shark bite.” Further information was not disclosed.
