Florida Governor Stops by Starbucks for a Quick Cup of Coffee, Gets a Double-Shot of Karma Instead

When Florida Gov. Rick Scott stopped by a Gainesville Starbucks for his refreshing beverage of choice on Tuesday, he was unexpectedly met with some (thankfully filmed) animosity. Scott, another Republican not very into the idea of expanding Medicaid to cover the nation's most vulnerable citizens, felt the wrath of the very people who may have benefited from such an expansion in a swift act of finely brewed karma.

"You cut Medicaid, so I couldn't get Obamacare!" the woman screams at a clearly befuddled Scott. "You're an asshole! You don’t care about working people!" Scott, of course, has dramatically flip-flopped on the issue of Medicaid expansion during his tenure. Though he briefly seemed in favor of the expansion that would provide basic healthcare services to as many as 1 million low-income residents, the Washington Post reports that Scott abruptly changed his tune in April of last year.

Stephen Bender, who captured Scott's encounter with a woman reportedly identified as Cara Jennings, tells the Huffington Post that the impassioned display of citizen-perpetrated justice was initiated by Jennings calling out Scott for stripping funding for women's health services. "Shame on you, Rick Scott!" she's heard screaming at Scott in the video. "You're an embarrassment to our state!"

Of course, as sad as such a realization may be, Rick Scott is far from the only governor to oppose the expansion of Medicaid. Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and several other (generally red) states have also failed to adopt the expansion.
