Joshua Allen, the Season 4 champion of So You Think You Can Dance, has passed away. He was 36 years old.

A relative confirmed to TMZ that he died on Tuesday, September 30. The family is requesting privacy and prayers during this time, while explaining that Allen was struck and killed by a train near his home in Texas. TMZ was told by the Fort Worth Police Department that the investigation is currently ongoing.

Choreographer and close friend Emmanuel Hurd honored Joshua Allen with a heartfelt tribute shared on Instagram Tuesday, writing, "I can’t wrap my head around this…Josh…my brotha. There are no words. You were the life of the party." He also added, "I know you’re with Stephen now and that brings me comfort," referencing former So You Think You Can Dance star Stephen "tWitch" Boss, who tragically took his own life in 2022.

After his So You Think You Can Dance victory, Allen went on to appear as a featured dancer in Step Up 3D. He also took part in Oxygen’s Dance Your Ass Off and had a role in the 2011 remake of Footloose. His acting career included appearances in commercials and TV series like Community and American Horror Story prior to his passing.

Fans were shocked to learn of Allen's death, with many flocking to the comments section to share their condolences on his most recent Instagram post.

"RIP Josh!! I know you and twitch will continuing dancing in heaven," said one fan. Another person commented, "My heart aches for your family and fans. Josh, you were such a force in the dance world and a smile that could cure any sadness." A third commenter said, "I watched him win. I rooted him on. He was so humble and handsome. This cannot be real."
