R. Kelly's daughter, Joanne Kelly, has spoken out against her father in an upcoming documentary highlighting her relationship with the disgraced singer.

On Sunday, a trailer for Kelly's Karma: A Daughter's Journey was released and gives fans a taste of the documentary that highlights the "dark reality" of living in Kelly's shadow. In the trailer, Joanne opened up about her relationship with her father and how his multiple sex crimes affected her life.

"Nobody wants to be the child of the father that is out here hurting women and children," said Joanne in the trailer. "He knows exactly why we can't have the relationship that we would have liked to have with him."

She added, "He was my everything. For a long time, I didn't even want to believe that it happened. I didn't know that, even if he was a bad person, that he would do something to me."

Joanne also spoke on her father's conviction and how that "millisecond" changed her life forever. Regarding her son, Joanne claimed she'll tell him the truth as much as she can but won't be taking him "to prison to meet his grandfather." Joanne's mother, DreaKelly, also speaks on her ex-husband, explaining how he couldn't even do his job as a father.

"Just because you're not a good husband, doesn't mean you can't be a good father. And the fact that he didn't even try," said Drea. "What he did to me, he did to me. But you didn't have to do it to my damn kids."

Kelly's Karma: A Daughter's Journey is scheduled to premiere on the Tvei Network on October 11.

R. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of child pornography and enticement of minors for sex in February 2023. He was already serving a 30-year sentence stemming from his racketeering and sex-trafficking conviction in 2021.
