Tech entrepreneur and anti-aging evangelist Bryan Johnson is gearing up for one of his wildest stunts yet.

Johnson announced the plan on X, revealing he’ll consume 5.24 grams of dried psilocybin mushrooms, which contain a lab-confirmed 28 milligrams of active psilocybin, during a six-hour livestream on Sunday, March 30 at 10 a.m. PST. He called the project his second psychedelic trial in a three-month sequence and “the most quantified psychedelic experiment in history.”

Johnson emphasized that the livestream is fully medicalized and not meant to inspire copycat behavior.

“Do not try this at home,” he wrote, stressing that the session will take place in a legal setting with a professional facilitator and medical supervision. He warned that psilocybin remains illegal in many regions and carries “real medical and psychological risks.”

He also pushed back against the idea that simply weighing mushrooms is enough to understand potency. According to Johnson, two identical-looking 5-gram servings can differ wildly in strength, anywhere from 20mg to more than 60mg of psilocybin, depending on strain, growing conditions, and specific parts of the harvest.

“Without a lab test, you don’t know what dose you’re taking,” he wrote. He noted that his 28mg dosage is just 2 mg shy of a ‘heroic dose,’ which clinical studies typically benchmark around 30mg.

During the livestream, Johnson will track 249 biomarkers, drawing 29 vials of blood and capturing data from brain scans, urine, stool, saliva, fertility metrics, and multi-omics profiling — including DNA, epigenetics, hormones, microbiome activity, proteins, and cognitive function. Multiple “biological age” metrics will also be analyzed, such as telomere length and brain aging markers.

Johnson claims emerging research suggests psilocybin may have potential longevity benefits, citing studies tying the compound to reduced inflammation, improved neuronal protection, increased brain entropy, enhanced cognition, and longer lifespan in certain lab models.

Johnson’s stream is set to feature guest appearances from Grimes, who will perform a live DJ set, alongside psychedelic expert Hamilton Morris and venture capitalist Steve Jurvetson, who will discuss research surrounding psychedelics. Johnson also said MrBeast, Naval Ravikant, Marc Benioff, and David Friedberg will “check in on me during the experience.” Moderation duties will fall to goth influencer Kate Tolo and journalist Ashlee Vance.

The billionaire, best known for his relentless anti-aging protocol, closed his announcement with a characteristic mix of bravado and humor: “Come watch me trip balls.”
