Teen Charged With Murder for Allegedly Shooting 16-Year-Old Ex-Girlfriend 22 Times

A 17-year-old in Houston has been charged for the murder of a 16-year-old girl, his ex-girlfriend, after she was shot 22 times while walking her dog.

A 17-year-old boy from Houston, Texas has been charged for the murder of a 16-year-old girl after she was shot 22 times while walking her dog.

Frank Deleon Jr., who according to investigators was angry with the victim for seeing someone else, was taken into custody on Monday for the murder of Diamond Alvarez. As reported by local outlet KPRC 2, Alvarez had found out about the other person and planned to confront Deleon Jr. about the relationship. The pair agreed to meet and talk at a park at around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 11.

According to her family, Alvarez reportedly arrived at the park and was walking the family dog “Peanut” when they heard a series of gunshots. They attempted to call Alvarez’s phone but received no response, and went to the park to find Peanut wandering around alone. The family searched for Alvarez and eventually found her riddled with bullets lying in a nearby field.

“I tried CPR. I couldn’t bring her back. I tried so hard to keep her alive,” Anna Machado, the girl’s mother, said to KPRC 2. “He was just angry at my daughter. It wasn’t love, it wasn’t a breakup, he was angry at my daughter.”

Frank Deleon Jr’s bond was set at $250,000 but he bonded out of jail Tuesday, court records said.

“I loved everything about my daughter, I don’t regret anything. I’m at peace because I gave her all the kisses and all the hugs,” Machado told KPRC 2. “I have to be strong now. I can’t break, this is not over.”

Machado added that Deleon Jr. shouldn’t have been bonded out, according to The New York Post.

“He doesn’t even deserve a high bond. He executed my daughter,” Machado said.
