Arizona Teacher Faces 30 Years in Prison After Pleading Guilty to Molesting 13-Year-Old Student

Upon release, 28-year-old Brittany Zamora will spend the rest of her life on probation.

Last year, it was reported that former Arizona teacher Brittany Zamora engaged in sexual acts with her 13-year-old student numerous times.

The Arizona Republic now reports that Zamora is facing up to 30 years in prison for molestin g the teenager. Court documents indicate that, though she was originally charged with 15 counts, a plea deal resulted in twelve charges getting dismissed.

A tearful Zamora is seen in the video above, where she, along with her lawyer, faced a judge in a 15-minute hearing. She plead guilty to sexual conduct with a minor, attempted molestation of a minor, and public sexual indecency. The first charge, the most serious of the three, carries a minimum sentence of 13 years and a maximum of 27, though she is expected to receive 20 years. The second charge (attempted molestation of a minor) yields a five to 15 year sentence, and it is presumed she will get 10 years. For the last count of public sexual indecency, she is looking at a maximum of 1.5 years.

Additionally, Zamora will be mandated to register as a sex offender and serve probation for the rest of her life. She may also have to pay restitution to the victims.

The Republic notes that her guilty plea means that her victim, as well as the young witnesses, will not have to take the stand during a trial.

Earlier this year, the young boy told police interviewers that the former teacher "said she wanted to give me a blow job and my stuff is really big and stuff like that." He continued to say that the two would engage in illicit acts frequently, many times in the classroom. Earlier this year, it was uncovered that Zamora instructed the victim to keep quiet about their relations, but he ended up telling a friend.

That friend also looked on as the two engaged in sexual activity. He was asked to keep watch multiple times, but declined after doing so the first time.
