Parkland Shooting Survivor Squashes Conspiracy Theory That He’s an FBI Plant

Talk about taking the high road.

Not that we want to give these pathetic trolls any more attention than Donald Trump Jr. already has, but there are some internet idiots promulgating blatantly offensive conspiracy theories that the student survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, who are advocating for gun control in the wake of the tragedy, are disingenuous "crisis actors." Fortunately, one of the more outspoken students who became the target of this spectacularly ignorant BS is speaking out.

David Hogg is one of the students who survived the mass shooting at his Parkland, Florida high school. He's since gone on to become a leading voice among those lobbying for change to the nation’s gun laws. As such, he's become the target of some of these vicious conspiracy theories, one of which alleges Hogg was coached by his father, who happens to be a former FBI agent, to speak out against Trump.

On Tuesday, Hogg went on Anderson Cooper’s AC360 and told the CNN anchor quite definitely, “I'm not a crisis actor.” Hogg added, “I'm someone who had to witness this and live through this and I continue to be having to do that." The student also said he’s not trying to take away anyone’s constitutional rights, but he wants to prevent mentally unstable or otherwise unqualified people from obtaining firearms.

Even pro-gun, Republican Florida Senator Marco Rubio called out DJT Jr. and others for indulging such a conspiracy. "Claiming some of the students on TV after Parkland are actors is the work of a disgusting group of idiots with no sense of decency," he tweeted.
