School Counselor Who Admitted to Having Sex With Teen Student Accuses Her Husband of 'Neglect'

She pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual battery.

A former Ohio educator who admitted to having sex with an underage student is now facing prison time—and a divorce.

According to TMZ, 43-year-old Emily Nutley was arrested in 2024 on six counts of sexual battery, a felony of the third degree. Prosecutors said Nutley was working as a head counselor at an all-boys Catholic school when she was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old boy.

Weeks after Nutley’s indictment, her husband Jonathan Nutley filed for divorce. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Emily Nutley fired back, accusing her estranged spouse “of gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty.”

Authorities said Nutley met the student during the fall 2023 semester while leading a program for at-risk teens.

“This child was in need of help and guidance but instead found an adult looking to act out her perverted sexual desires,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers said in an October 2024 statement. “Let me be very clear: This is child sexual abuse.”

In addition to sending the boy explicitly sexual text messages, Nutley allegedly had intercourse with the student and gave him oral sex on separate occasions. The sexual encounters reportedly occurred on and off school property.

“When the victim attempted to stop the encounters, Nutley continued to contact the victim via text messages,” the Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office wrote. “The inappropriate conduct was brought to light after an internal investigation by St. Xavier High School administrators.”

Nutley’s sentencing is scheduled for June 10. She faces up to 10 years behind bars.
