A Kansas man has been found guilty of sexual battery against a police officer.
According to KMBC, the charge stemmed from a December 2024 incident in which police officers were responding to a domestic disturbance at a Leavenworth County apartment complex. As authorities were arresting 44-year-old Cleo Williams Jr., the suspect allegedly kissed one of the responding officers on the neck.
Williams entered a no-contest plea on Monday. As part of the deal, the court agreed to dismiss his other charges: interference with a law enforcement officer and battery on a law enforcement officer.
“Our officers work hard, and we respect and appreciate the services they provide,” Leavenworth County Attorney Todd Thompson said in a press release. “However, any form of inappropriate physical contact, including kissing, is unacceptable.”
Williams’ sentencing hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. on September 26, 2025.
