A Ukrainian soldier is claiming that a world record for the longest distance of a confirmed sniper kill was set last week when two Russian soldiers were taken out with a single shot from nearly two and a half miles away.

According to the New York Post, the presumed record belongs to an unidentified member of Ukraine's "Pryvyd" sniper unit who used a 14.5mm "Alligator" rifle on Aug. 14, near the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk. Military expert Yuri Butusov indicates that the sniper was assisted by artificial intelligence and a UAV, or unmanned aerial vehicle, to make the kill from a distance of 4,374 yards.

"The bullet went through the window behind which the occupiers were standing," Butusov said of the record-breaking shot, which broke the previous mark of 4,156 yards.

The record was previously held for nearly two years by a 58-year-old member of the Security Service of Ukraine.
