A guest at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas recently won $2.2 million playing Face Up Pai Gow poker on a $5 wager by having one of the luckiest hands in the game.
The casino shared the news in a Facebook post on Wednesday, revealing the unidentified person had a seven-card straight flush, which happens when all the cards are the same suit and in sequential order. In this case, the player got a 7, 9, 10, jack, queen, and king in clubs, with the joker serving as an 8.
The Venetian Resort notes that the payout of $2,211,469 is the largest amount won in Pai Gow Progressive in the casino's history.
According to Upswing Poker, a straight flush is considered "one of the rarest and strongest hands you can make in a game of poker." The site calculates the chances of such a hand from five random cards is 0.00139 percent.
