Man Charged With Hate Crime After Racist and Homophobic Rant Was Captured on TikTok

A Colorado man was arrested and charged with committing a hate crime after he was recorded hurling racist and homophobic remarks at two people on TikTok.

A Colorado man was arrested on Monday after he was recorded on TikTok making racist and homophobic remarks at an Asian man and woman inside an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in California.

According to CBS News, Arine Kim and Elliot Ha were recording themselves as they tried items off In-N-Out Burger’s secret menu on Christmas Eve. Kim and Ha were approached by a man who can be heard off-camera making offensive comments towards them. The man called the two “weird homosexuals,” threatened to spit in Ha’s face, and told them that he would see them outside.

“Are you Japanese or Korean?,” he later asked. “Are you Japanese or Korean? Are you Kim Jong Un’s boyfriend? You have gay sex with him?”

The two recall seeing the man staring at them after he left the restaurant. “He was staring us down for 10 to 15 minutes through the window and his gaze never averted from us,” Kim told CBS News. In-N-Out employees ended up walking Kim and Ha to their car at their request.

“We made sure to ask the workers, could you guys walk us to our cars, we need to make sure that he’s not still around. And the workers were just super helpful,” Ha said.

After the San Ramon Police Department became aware of the video’s existence, police chief Denton Carlson reached out to the two individuals in the video and launched an investigation into the incident. The man was eventually identified as 40-year-old Jordan Douglas Krah. He has been charged with two counts of committing a hate crime.
