A social media influencer from Italy has died at the age of 38 after undergoing cosmetic surgery in Moscow.
According to TMZ, Yulia Burtseva died after undergoing a procedure at a private clinic on January 4. Her "condition rapidly worsened," and she was rushed to a hospital, where she died, the site reported.
Burtseva lived in Naples, Italy, with her husband and their young daughter, TMZ reported.
According to TMZ, she posted the morning of her death at a coffee shop on a Russian social media platform, writing, "Good morning Moscow."
The Russian news site MSK1 reported that a criminal case has been opened with charges that carry a possible punishment of three years.
"The GSU of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties)," that site wrote.
According to a translation of MSK1, "the incident occurred in the branch of the clinic...It is reported that Yulia Burtseva had an operation to increase the buttocks. During the procedure, she allegedly developed anaphylactic shock."
She focused on travel and her family in her blog posts, the site reported.
Burtseva was also on Instagram, where she had more than 70,000 followers. One of her recent posts on Instagram offered advice on relationships.
"Perhaps the most significant source of misunderstanding in international relations is the different understanding of what a woman and a man are," a translation of her post reads. "We grew up in different families and witnessed different relationships between our parents, and therefore we have slightly different perceptions."
Some of her Instagram posts were videos that showed her family life, including her husband and young daughter.
