People and social media influencers have been on a desperate hunt for the Starbucks Bearista Bear cups, as the trend goes viral.
"lol it's been a crazy few crazy hours trying to get the bearista cup from Starbucks," wrote one person on X, sharing a video of his quest. The man added that his local Starbucks told him the cups are "limited."
Another person shared a photo of a bear cup and wrote, "Hey Starbucks I need yall to please run it back on the Bearista Cup! I’m sorry I can’t camp out overnight, I got up as 6 a.m. thinking I’ll be able to get one. But apparently I needed to camp overnight….it's so cute!"
But they aren't easy to find, and now the company is apologizing for that.
“The excitement for our merchandise exceeded even our biggest expectations and despite shipping more Bearista cups to coffeehouses than almost any other merchandise item this holiday season, the Bearista cup and some other items sold out fast,” Starbucks said to People.
“We understand many customers were excited about the Bearista cup and apologize for the disappointment this may have caused.”
Starbucks ignited the trend by sharing a reel of the Bearista bear cup to Instagram with a big promise: "Who’s getting a bearista cup on 11/6 lmk."
But outraged fans quickly filled up the comment thread. "Girls were physically fighting at my Starbucks for these. How could yall send literally 2-8 to the stores? Be fr," wrote one. "If these sell out before I can get one I’ll be brokenhearted 😢," wrote another person.
Added another X user, "There was 15 people in line at my husband’s store. My husband was able to get one for my grandchild. He said his store only received 10."
Where can you get the bear cups from Starbucks near you? Only in person. Starbucks doesn't sell them online.
Bear cups are for sale on eBay. Some are going for hundreds of dollars, but beware because some are dupes or from an older cup line.
