Prince Harry almost broke down in tears as he described his wife's life as "absolute misery" due to British tabloids.

According to NBC News, Harry "appeared on the verge of tears" as he testified in the legal battle he is forging with other celebrities against tabloids. Harry "continued to appear upset, sniffling as he exited through the door," The Independent reported.

“They have made my wife’s life an absolute misery,” he testified, according to NBC News, before describing his own life as "commercialized" since he was a youth.

“The defense's claim that I don’t have any right to privacy is disgusting,” Harry said.

According to CNN, Harry is among a group of celebrities who have accused Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) "of allegedly gathering information through unlawful practices such as tasking private investigators to engage in voicemail interception, phone tapping and 'blagging' of sensitive private records through deception."

The other plaintiffs include Elton John, David Furness, and Elizabeth Hurley, CNN noted.

According to CNN, the media organization has defended itself in several ways, including insisting that the information was gathered legally.

Harry described the emotional damage he says some stories caused him as well, testifying, according to CNN, that he was “part of an endless pursuit, a campaign, an obsession of having every aspect of my life under surveillance so they could get the run on their competitors and drive me paranoid beyond belief, isolating me, and probably wanting to drive me to drugs and drinking to sell more of their papers.”

Harry also testified that he couldn't complain about the stories when they first came out because of the Royal Family's tradition of silence.

Harry also denied an accusation that he communicated with a Daily Mail reporter using a fake Facebook named, "Mr. Mischief." He also rejected claims that his friends were behind stories, saying, “My social circles were not leaky, I want to make that absolutely clear.”
