New details are emerging about Morgan Geyser’s short time on the run. The Slender Man attacker was discovered sleeping on the sidewalk outside a Posen, Illinois, truck stop, and told police to “Google” her name, officers wrote in a news release.

Madison, Wisconsin, police say Geyser cut off her GPS monitoring bracelet and fled a group home on the evening of Saturday, November 22. Within a day, she was in custody.

Now, the Posen, Illinois, Police Department has released more details.

In 2014, Geyser was accused in Wisconsin with another girl of stabbing a classmate 19 times to please Slender Man, a fictional character. The classmate survived. All of the girls were 12 years old at the time. Geyser was found not guilty by reason of mental disease and defect and initially sent to a psychiatric institution before a judge approved her release to a group home, where she was on electronic monitoring.

That's the group home police say she disappeared from, resulting in a news release and search. That search ended outside Thornton's Truck Stop in Posen.

"Last night, Posen officers were dispatched to the Thornton’s Truck Stop at 14840 Western Avenue for a report of a male and female loitering behind the building," Posen police wrote in a news release.

"When officers arrived, they located both subjects sleeping on the sidewalk. The female repeatedly refused to provide her real name and initially gave a false one," police wrote.

"After continued attempts to identify her, she finally stated that she didn’t want to tell officers who she was because she had 'done something really bad,' and suggested that officers could 'just Google' her name," wrote police.

"Once she provided her true identity, officers confirmed she was Morgan Geyser, who was wanted out of Wisconsin for escape after walking away from a group home where she had been placed," police wrote.

"For background, Geyser was one of the two juveniles involved in the 2014 'Slender Man stabbing,' a case that received national attention," wrote Posen police.

She was "later assigned to a secure residential facility, from which she recently absconded," added Posen police.

"The male subject with her was also taken into custody. Both individuals were safely detained without incident by Posen officers. We are proud of the professionalism and diligence our officers demonstrated in bringing this situation to a safe conclusion and ensuring that a wanted escapee was located and returned to custody," wrote police. They did not identify the man in custody.

Madison police also confirmed that Geyser, 23, was back in custody.

Madison police released a timeline. They wrote:

"Geyser was last seen at a group home at around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday. Around 9:30 p.m., the Department of Corrections received an alert that Geyser’s GPS monitoring bracelet was malfunctioning. Around 11:30 p.m., DOC made contact with the adult group home where Geyser was living."

Continued police: "Around 11:35 p.m., group home staff informed DOC that Geyser was not at the home and that she had removed her GPS bracelet. Around midnight, DOC issued an apprehension request for Geyser. This request was never relayed to the Madison Police Department."

"At 7:46 a.m., someone from the group home called 911 to report Geyser as a missing person," police wrote. "At 7:58 a.m., Madison police was assigned to the call and headed to Kroncke Drive. This was the first time the Madison Police Department was made aware that Geyser was missing."
