Lauren Turner was a promising young soccer player at Cal State Fullerton before a scooter tragedy took her life.

A GoFundMe to help the family revealed the tragic details that led to her death. "On September 27, my beloved sister Lauren was struck by a box truck while riding her scooter. She is now in the ICU in critical condition, battling severe head trauma," the page says.

"Lauren is a beautiful, bright, strong, and determined young woman whose love for soccer, school, and church communities shines through in everything she does. If you know Lauren, you know she is one of the toughest people out there. Seeing her in this condition is something no family can ever be prepared for."

The university announced her death in November 2025.

"The Cal State Fullerton Athletics Department is heartbroken to announce the news of the passing of women's soccer student-athlete Lauren Turner, who passed away on Friday, November 7th after a nearly six-week stay in the ICU following a tragic off-campus traffic collision," the university confirmed in a statement.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with her parents, Christopher and Christine, her sisters Nicolette and Victoria, her teammates, coaches, staff members, friends and all who were fortunate to know her," the statement says.

A native of Tustin, California, Turner "was a sophomore on the women's soccer team. She played in 10 games this season, making eight starts in multiple positions. Lauren played a big part in the Titans historic unbeaten start to the 2025 season," the statement added.

"She played the full 90 minutes in the Titans win at Pitt and played an integral role in helping the Titans earn their second ever win over an ACC opponent. She played in all 20 games last season, making 4 starts. Turner played in 30 career games and scored her first collegiate goal at home against UC Riverside last year," it says.

"Lauren was the funniest, most charismatic, and loving teammate you could ever ask for. She was the first to celebrate other people's wins. She is the true definition of an amazing person," the team said in a statement.

"She always carried herself with compassion, kindness, and happiness. The impact she made on the Titans women's soccer program is immeasurable. She will be dearly missed by everyone but forever remembered by her Titan family. We love you Lauren, our No. 5 Forever."
