Christopher Lindner was a member of the prominent Lindner family of Cincinnati, OH. His dad, Carl Lindner III, was described by Cincinnati.com as "one of Cincinnati's wealthiest men."
Carl Lindner III is the majority owner of FC Cincinnati, as well as "the heir to an insurance fortune, a philanthropist, adventurer, political donor, businessman, yacht owner and all-around Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous kind of guy," Cincinnati.com wrote in 2019.
That degree of wealth did not protect the family from tragedy, however.
Lindner's son Christopher was shot and killed in a police shooting on November 14, 2025, in Ohio, according to Cincinnati.com.
According to Local 12, the shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. in Manchester, OH, when a call "from a concerned citizen" ignited a police pursuit. Ohio state troopers joined it.
Lindner "later exited his vehicle and entered a residence," Local 12 alleged, adding that, according to police, "Despite repeated attempts for him to surrender, he came out with a firearm, prompting the shooting." He died at the scene.
Carl Lindner III has served as the co-CEO of American Financial Group with his brother. Their dad, and Christopher's grandfather, was the "renowned business leader and philanthropist Carl H. Lindner Jr.," who formed American Financial Group (AFG) in 1959. Its holdings once included the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. That's according to a University of Cincinnati profile on the family.
"Carl and his wife Martha, BBA '78 in finance, support numerous charities focused on promoting education, aiding vulnerable and at-risk children and international Christian ministry," the profile says.
