A tragedy occurred at a car wash in North Texas on Monday morning (March 3).
According to Fox 4, just before 11 a.m. on Monday, Fort Worth rapper G$ Lil Ronnie, born Chuckie Smith, 30, and his 5-year-old daughter, were victims of a shooting at Slappy's Express Car Wash on Forest Hill Drive.
While Ronnie's vehicle was in the car wash bay, two men reportedly exited their four-door Kia and approached the vehicle and shot before fleeing. Officers attempted to save the victims, but Ronnie and his daughter were pronounced dead at the scene.
One of the suspects has been identified, according to the police, and an arrest warrant has been issued. While the police department believes that the shooting was targeted, they have announced that they will not yet release the suspect's name.
Family members and relatives were outraged at the shooting, with additional police officers being requested for crowd control.
"He was a rapper. He didn’t bother nobody. He didn’t target nobody. He was a family man, and he was going around rapping, okay. Why would you target him?" commented Ronnie's aunt, Stella Houston.
Houston added that the 5-year-old girl celebrated her birthday one day before the shooting. "Cleaning the car out, and somebody came through shooting and killed him and the baby," Houston added. "And a baby. His baby. A baby!"
In a statement, the car wash said that it will help the authorities and would be closed for at least the next two days.
While an up-and-coming rapper, Ronnie was popular on the local scene, known for songs like "Weigh It Up" and "Commitment."
