A woman in Fairhope, Alabama seeks $2 million in damages after being acquitted of charges for wearing an inflatable penis costume at a rally in protest against President Donald Trump.
According to AL.com, the Fairhope resident, 62, was arrested after wearing the costume during a “No Kings” Rally last October. Since her acquittal on April 15, she seeks monetary damages, a formal apology, acknowledgement that the arrest was unlawful and additional training for the Fairhope Police Department, and a requirement for new hires to take a U.S. citizenship test. Video from the arrest for disorderly conduct shows that Gamble was tackled to the ground.
Along with wearing the phallic costume, Gamble held an American flag and a sign that read “No dick-tator.” Attorneys for the Fairhope resident have argued that her arrest was in violation of her First Amendment rights and did not cause a disturbance.
Gabb was apprehended by Fairhope Police Corporal Andrew Babb at the October 18, 2025, event on Greeno Road in Fairhope. “When Babb approached Ms. Gamble, she was standing on the sidewalk among many protesters, none of whom were breaching the peace,” read a statement regarding the violation of Gamble’s constitutional rights. “Only when Babb approached was the peace breached and Babb was solely responsible for it. He began yelling at Ms. Gamble but never told her she was under arrest.”
“No Kings” demonstrations have been held nationwide in opposition to the Trump Administration and, occasionally, other authoritarian figures in politics and business.
Gamble was found not guilty of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, along with disturbing the peace and giving a false name to authorities.
