“Put some freaking earplugs in,” wrote Witney Carson after a flight attendant repeatedly shushed her 2-year-old during a flight from Australia to the United States.

The Dancing With the Stars pro is opening up about a recent unpleasant experience she had while traveling from Australia back to the United States with her husband, Carson McAllister, and young sons. They had traveled to Australia to visit Robert Irwin, Carson’s former DWTS partner.

Carson and McAllister have two children, 5-year-old Leo and 2-year-old Jet. Their flight from Australia to the United States was lengthy, totaling around 13 hours. As most would imagine, such a long flight with two very young children was not a breeze. However, what Carson was not expecting was for her toddler to be repeatedly shushed by a flight attendant during that time.

She turned to her Instagram stories to share the experience and ask for input from fellow moms.

“Question for you guys, and be honest — is it appropriate to ask for a child to be quiet for the entire 13-hour flight? Jet was playing and giggling with me, and we were asked to be quiet because a man up in front said he was trying to rest,” she wrote.

“I totally get if there needs to be a certain time where we need to sleep, but it’s in the middle of the day. I’m a big advocate of, ‘Worry about things that are in your control and put some freaking ear plugs in.’ Am I being crazy?” she asked.

Carson went on to say that after a flight attendant had shushed her child several times, she confronted her.

“I got up and asked [the aircraft employee] if there were certain times on the flight we needed to be quiet and we’d respect that. If not, I don’t expect my children to sit quietly for 13 hours. OK, bye, I’m done,” she concluded.

After many followers reached out to her to show support, she thanked them, writing, “I feel very validated.”
