Mickey Rourke Steps Out Looking Nearly Unrecognizable After Eviction Drama

The actor and former boxer claimed he withheld rent over 'unacceptable' living conditions, while his former landlord said he waited nearly a year for payment.

Former pro boxer Mickey Rourke is making headlines, but this time it is not for an upcoming film role or a controversial comment.

The 73-year-old appeared disheveled and nearly unrecognizable while stepping out in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Rourke wore ripped jeans, a grey hoodie, and sunglasses while out walking his three dogs. He appeared to have several missing teeth, and stains were visible on his face and clothing.

The former boxer, who previously appeared on Celebrity Big Brother UK, was in the news earlier this year after being evicted from his LA home for failure to pay rent.

In a statement, Rourke claimed that he did indeed withhold nearly $60,000 in rent from his former landlord, Eric T. Goldie. However, he also noted that it wasn’t without good reason.

Rourke alleged that the living conditions inside the home were “unacceptable,” also claiming there were “ongoing rodent issues” and “bathroom and plumbing” problems.

He also noted that this “was not a decision [he] made lightly.”

A lawyer for Rourke’s former landlord said Goldie “waited nearly a year for unpaid rent and made multiple efforts to resolve the matter privately.” Nevertheless, Rourke was ultimately booted from the property.

Goldie has no apparent animosity toward his former tenant and “is looking to move on and wishes Mr. Rourke the best going forward,” according to his lawyer.

After being evicted, Rourke began staying in a luxury Hollywood hotel. Liya-Joelle Jones, a member of his team, launched a GoFundMe to assist the former boxer financially. Rourke later distanced himself from the fundraiser, saying he was “confused” and “frustrated” by it and did not want “charity.”
