A video has gone viral online showing a shocking interaction that has many social media users scoffing. The clip, reportedly taken from security footage, shows an incident that happened to travelers in Colombia.
It begins with two young-looking tourists, each wearing a backpack, chatting and engaging in what appears to be a currency exchange. However, very quickly, things turn violent. Another man rushes towards them, wielding a weapon believed to be a knife, and attempts to ambush the woman and steal her backpack.
The woman refuses to give the backpack up and begins to fight the attacker off desperately.
Meanwhile, the tourist companion she was with chooses not to intervene, but instead can be seen hiding behind a nearby wall.
The female tourist and her attacker continue to engage in the harrowing fight for a full fifteen seconds before, suddenly, another man walking by who saw what was happening came to her aid. The heroic stranger uses a motorcycle helmet to strike the attacker in the head, prompting him to eventually lose his grip on the wrists, allowing her to back away.
Just seconds later, three other men passing by join the Good Samaritan in taking down the attacker with repeated punches. Together, the four men eventually wrestle the assailant to the ground and subdue him.
It was only then that the male tourist who had been hiding in the background emerged and could be seen appearing to check in with the victim.
Before long, the video began spreading quickly on social media sites like Reddit and TikTok, with many users drawing their own conclusions about the incident. Some speculated about why the male tourist failed to step in, and about what the relationship was between him and the victim.
Still others were quick to drag the male tourist for what some have referred to as cowardly behavior.
“Divorce immediately,” commented one person.
“If that’s her man, she needs a new one,” commented another.
