Kaley Cuoco is getting open and honest about her devastating 2022 divorce from her ex-husband Karl Cook.
The Big Bang Theory actress appeared on the latest episode of the Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, February 9. She spoke candidly to co-hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman about how her divorce unfolded and the extreme toll it took on her overall mental health.
Cuoco and Cook met at a horse show in 2016 and bonded over their mutual love for animals. They tied the knot in June of 2018 and were married for a total of three years.
When the marriage came to an end, Cuoco recalled struggling to get off the floor, despite having a premier event to attend.
She remembered lying “on the floor of this house that I shared with Karl. We were obviously divorced, divorcing. And it was the day of the [The Flight Attendant season 2] premiere, and I was on the floor sobbing, thinking I ruined my whole life. That is the lowest point of my life I ever had. I couldn't get up. I was so depressed,” she said.
The 40-year-old actress recalled feeling as if she “blew up her life,” and questioned whether she would ever find love again.
“My hair and makeup girls came over. They were literally doing my hair and makeup on the floor. I said, ‘I can't go. I was so sad. The path for me was so complicated. And I just thought, ‘Oh, man, this might've been it for me,’ ” she said.
However, little did Cuoco realize at the time that things were about to turn around for her much faster than she could have ever imagined.
It was just two weeks later, during a trip to New York, that Cuoco would meet Ozark actor Tom Pelphrey.
Their connection was nearly immediate.
“I get this feeling that I'm gonna spend my life with him,” Cuoco revealed.
Cuoco and Pelphrey are now engaged and share a 3-year-old daughter named Matilda.
