A report from TMZ has stated that Christina Applegate has been admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles.
The actress, who is 54 years old, has had a complex medical history. She has battled with multiple sclerosis for years and was first officially diagnosed with the condition in 2021.
This medical condition has not only impacted Applegate’s ability to work but also virtually every aspect of her life and day-to-day functioning.
The report from TMZ states that Applegate was first admitted to the hospital in late March. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether or not the hospitalization is directly related to her multiple sclerosis.
A representative for Applegate provided a statement to Page Six, but revealed little information. “I have no comment on whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are. She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast,” they said.
In February, Applegate opened up about how her diagnosis with MS has affected her life, and particularly her family, during an appearance on the podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.
She discussed a difficult conversation she had with her 15-year-old daughter, Sadie, about her condition.
“We got into a big thing the other day — and sorry Sadie, but it has to be said — she said, ‘I miss who you were before you got sick,'“ she said.
Applegate recalled the pain she felt hearing her daughter tell her this.
“That is just like a knife to the heart because I miss who I was before I got sick, too, very much so, every day of my life. It’s such a loss,” she went on.
Despite her daily struggles, Applegate emphasized that she continues to fight for the sake of her daughter.
“She’s the reason I’m still here and trying,” she said.
