Russell Westbrook Foundation Helps Launch Job Training Program For L.A. Young Adults

The L.A. Conservation Corps. announces the launch of the Westbrook/Brownstein Green Tech Program (WBGT).

On Tuesday, the LA Conservation Corps announced a partnership between notable Los Angeles native, Russell Westbrook, as well as local businessman/entrepreneur Chad Brownstein, to form the Westbrook/Brownstein Green Tech Program (WBGT), according to a press release.

The program aims to give digital job skills for green tech careers to at-risk young adults within the area. In order to achieve this goal, the program will train said adolescents with skills that include: coding, drone piloting, and computer engineering. A lab with the equipment necessary to teach intro classes will also be funded.

"It means a lot to me to partner with Chad and the L.A. Conservation Corps on this new project," said Westbrook. "As a kid who grew up here in LA, I know how important it is to feel supported and empowered by the community. By helping to provide these resources my hope is that the youth will be able to see how bright their future can be and expand the vision of what they think they’re capable of."

A donation for the program will be made by Westbrook's Why Not? Foundation, as well as by Brownstein.

Last month, after 11 seasons in Oklahoma City, Westbrook was traded to Houston in a blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul and a pair of protected first-rounders back to OKC, while also hypothetically making the Rockets even more formidable. Tuesday also marked the announcement of Westbrook selling some tie-dye "0 Regrets" shirts, which catalog the 8-time All-Star's run as a member of the Thunder, and which can currently be preordered for $48:
