Oregon authorities reported on Saturday that a man survived being trapped in his car for five days by eating Taco Bell sauce.

Jeremy Taylor explained to Deschutes County deputies how he was traveling on a forest service road on Feb. 24 when his Toyota 4runner got stuck in the snow. This led the police to issue a missing person report on Thursday in hopes to locate 36-year-old man. A day later a snowmobiler saw Taylor in his car and alerted authorities. Emergency responders were then able to rescue Taylor and his dog Ally, stating he and his pet were in "good condition, but hungry after being stuck in the snow."

Taylor disclosed that as he and his dog couldn't walk to safety because of the snow and freezing temperatures, they survived by starting the car for short periods of time and eating packets of Taco Bell sauce that he had left in his vehicle.

"Jeremy stayed warm over the next four days by periodically starting his vehicle and used a few taco sauce packets he had as food," Deschutes County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook status.

In a status update of his own, Taylor thanked everyone for the well wishes while expressing how thankful he is to be alive.

"Thank you everyone, I'm safe my Ally dog is safe," Taylor wrote. "I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets never do that again. I'll be in touch with everyone soon."
