Whenever Apple is slated to release a new iPhone, we usually start getting peeks of the updated model in the earlier months of summer. A few photos supposedly depicting the upcoming iPhone 7 have surfaced on Twitter, and highlight the differences from the current iPhone 6 and 6s. Among the bits of information that can be inferred from these photos, we now know what will replace the headphone port: another speaker.

Aside from an improved camera and rear design with hidden antennae lines, the iPhone 7 will look very similar to the current 6 and 6s models, Business Insiderreports. A series of new photos of the iPhone 7 leaked by Steve Hemmerstoffer, the editor of online French publication NWE, reveal some curious new information about the missing headphone port.

First, if the iPhone 7's camera is larger in diameter than the iPhone 6 like these pictures suggest, that means performance will probably increase in low-light and fast-moving situations. Second, the smoother rear design of the iPhone 7 gets rid of the antennae lines that cross on the back of the iPhone 6—but we already knew that.

The biggest game changer, however, is the lack of a headphone port on the new model, which is replaced by an additional speaker. The reason behind removing the headphone port is still a bit of a mystery, although professionals have speculated that it could hint at the iPhone that will be released in 2017 after the iPhone 7 comes out.

Mass production of the iPhone 7—or whatever Apple decides to call it when it's announced in September—has begun in China, which means we'll likely get more leaks of the new model in the near future.
