Teenage Boy Attacked by Shark in Florida

The shark attack victim suffered severe lacerations on his right calf.

A 13-year-old boy was bitten by a shark at Neptune Beach in Florida earlier this afternoon, News4Jax reports.

According to numerous reports, the boy was swimming in water that was about two to three feet deep when the shark bit him on his right calf. It happened around 3:45 p.m. near Lemon Street in Florida today. He was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital to be treated for severe lacerations that are considered to be non-life threatening injuries.

Neptune Beach Police say that based on the bite marks, they believe the shark was about five to six feet long. They also say there was a large group of people in the water when the shark was first spotted.
