GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump said calling President Barack Obama the "founder of ISIS" was "sarcasm" setting off an increase in searches for the definition of "sarcasm," according to Merriam-Webster. Trump previously inspired a historic number of Google searches for "move to Canada."

Trump said his comment about Obama was actually sarcasm in a tweet Thursday where he called out CNN for not "getting" sarcasm. Apparently other people didn't understand what sarcasm was either (that or a bunch of Trump supporters looked up the definition of "sarcasm" and sent it to CNN) because "sarcasm" and "sarcastic" became top-searched words on Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary Friday.

Sarcasm as defined by Merriam-Webster means: "a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain" or "a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual."

Now that we know what sarcasm means here's Trump's comments about Obama and ISIS: "ISIS is honoring president Obama. He is the founder of ISIS. He's the founder of ISIS. He's the founder. He founded ISIS. And I would say the co-founder would be crooked Hillary Clinton. Co-founder, crooked Hillary Clinton." And here's video of Trump saying the comments, if you would like to examine his sarcastic tone.

Asked about the comments in an interview on Thursday Trump said he meant what he said: "No, I meant he's the founder of ISIS. I do. He was the most valuable player. I give him the most valuable player award. I give her, too, by the way, Hillary Clinton."

Other times Trump has had to #Trumpsplain sarcasm include when he defended suggesting Obama golf at a Trump golf club.
