Presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has said his fair share of controversial things on the campaign trail, such as calling Mexicans "rapists" and "criminals," released a statement denouncing his butler after he said Barack Obama should be killed.

Mother Jones first reported that Trump's former Butler, Anthony Senecal, wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post that "...[Obama] should have been taken out by our military and shot as an enemy agent in his first term."

Senecal was interviewed by The New York Times in March for a story about Trump, who he called "the king." According to the article he worked at Mar-a-Lago estate for a total of 60 years, 30 under Trump. When CNN contacted Senecal about the post he doubled down on his comments in a phone interview Thursday saying, "I think I said hung."

"Either way, I don't care," said Senecal. "Hanging, shooting, I'd prefer he'd be hung from the portico of the White House, or as I call it, the white mosque." Senecal toldCNN he's not "nuts," but that he is "fed up" with Obama.

CNNreports the Trump campaign released a statement about Senecal's comments with campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks saying: "Tony Senecal has not worked at Mar-a-Lago for years, but nevertheless we totally and completely disavow the horrible statements made by him regarding the President."

Senecal may no longer be a butler, but he's since become the Mar-a-Lago "unofficial historian," NYT reported.

The Secret Service is looking into Senecal's comments, saying it's "aware of this matter and will conduct the appropriate investigation."
