Woman Violated New Jersey’s Stay-at-Home Order After Throwing Molotov Cocktail at Boyfriend's House

A 24-year-old New Jersey woman has been charged with breaking the state’s stay-at-home directive after she threw a molotov cocktail at her boyfriend’s residence.

Karley A. Rossell has also been charged with arson and weapons offenses, the Courier-Post reports. The incident happened last Wednesday. The molotov cocktail “did not detonate,” the Attorney General's Office said in a statement.

On Friday, the state Attorney General's Office released a list of alleged violations that have broken the directive, which aims to curb the transmission of COVID-19. Rossell’s offense was just one from the list.

Earlier this month, a 34-year-old woman was charged after reportedly going out to drink with a friend and getting into a car accident. In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman went to another woman’s house and assaulted her. In addition to being charged for their individual crimes, all three have been charged with a disorderly persons offense for breaching the governor’s regulations, which took effect on March 21 at 9 p.m. local time.

Also included on the list was one resident who hosted a party, and another who spat on a police officer and claimed to have coronavirus. Multiple people have also been accused of spitting on cops across New Jersey.

“Our police officers are going above and beyond the call of duty during this health crisis." Attorney General Gurbir Grewal said when he released the list.

"Unfortunately, they are being called upon far too often to deal with people violating the orders put in place to protect us all—or what is more egregious, people falsely using the coronavirus to spread fear or impede officers in their vital work,” he added.
