A windstorm has caused some injuries to a pair of children after catapulting a bouncy castle 40 feet into the air.

According to TMZ, the incident happened on Saturday (May 31) at a school fundraiser in Krugersdorp, South Africa. Footage shows the inflatable structure lifted by a gust of wind and sent into the air, with at least two kids still inside.

The kids fell out of the castle after it was pulled 40 feet into the air. Adults at the event reportedly acted as human shields to try to prevent the kids from hitting the ground after they were tossed from the structure, one after the other.

According to a Facebook statement from Laerskool Protearif Primary, both kids were taken to the hospital, where it's said they were severely injured — one suffering a fractured skull and the other a broken arm. They have since been released, though they are now attending trauma counseling.

"It is with great gratitude that we are happy to share the very good news with you," the school’s statement read. "The 2 children, who sustained injuries on Saturday, May 31, during the fracture accident at the Protea festival, were discharged from the hospital on Saturday (31/5) and Tuesday (3/6) respectively!"

“The necessary trauma counseling was given to both children, as well as to the co-learners, who have experienced the events.”

It’s unknown if there were other kids in the bouncy castle who somehow held on as it flew into the sky and crashed down again, around 50 feet away.
