A man who allegedly fought three North Dakota cops is now in custody.
TMZ reports that on Saturday at around 4:30 p.m., Fargo police confronted Joseph Manitowabi after receiving a tip from the city’s Real Time Crime Center. When officers attempted to detain him, he allegedly started a physical altercation.
A clip of the incident shows the 37-year-old tussling with two male officers and one female officer. Manitowabi then punched all three in the face before getting away and running down the street.
Fargo police told the outlet that after a brief chase, they caught and apprehended Manitowabi for preventing arrest, assaulting three officers, meth possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Some people have suggested that Manitowabi fought the officers as a pushback against President Donald Trump’s immigration policy. ICE protests in Los Angeles dominated headlines over the weekend as demonstrators took to the streets, prompting the president to deploy National Guard troops.
However, Manitowabi appears to be resisting arrest in connection with drug charges. The three officers endured minor injuries and were taken to a hospital to receive treatment.
