Many people haven’t been complying with stay-at-home orders, which have been issued across several states due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, six people in California have been shot after attending a party. CNN reports that officers arrived on the scene after multiple shots were fired at an apartment in Bakersfield just after midnight on Sunday. Officers discovered six victims—one of which was a juvenile—at the apartment. They later learned that a party was being held there before the shooting.

The victims were transported to the hospital; none of the injuries were life-threatening. Police are looking for the suspects who were described as four men driving a white sedan. No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

On Friday, California announced that it was extending the statewide stay-at-home order until May 15, to further mitigate the spread of the virus. It was originally issued in late March. Over 40 states are enforcing similar orders, with over 97 percent of the U.S. under stay-at-home or shelter-in-place directives.

The only states that haven’t issued strict orders are Arkansas, Iowa, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. Utah’s directive is in place until the end of April.

In early April, Dr. Anthony Fauci expressed his disbelief that not every state had issued a similar mandate and believes that such orders should come from the federal level. "I don't understand why that's not happening," Fauci told CNN. "You know, the tension between federally mandated versus states' rights to do what they want is something I don't want to get into. But if you look at what's going on in this country, I just don't understand why we're not doing that."
